I agree with your concerns about Friday night doubles.

In Baltimore we started our semifinals Doubles match after midnight and it went until almost 2 am. My doubles partner and I lost a thrilling match at DMP in an extremely volatile, long-lasting game that was one shake away from being the most amazing comeback I've ever been a part of. Point is, I was so jacked on adrenaline from the match that I barely slept at all Friday night. We had quite a long wait to get our semis opponent and at one point when I looked at the match we were waiting on one of the teams debated for five minutes over an obvious cube decision.

Doubles should be clocked. But, I do want it to remain more generous than a singles match. 2.5/18 is my preference. Part of the appeal of entering doubles is to get the chance to get inside the minds of top players. Almost like a free lesson (well, free but for the entry fee!).
