I have not kept up with the chess scene as much over the past couple of years. Chess engines have gotten extremely strong, consensus being that they are now significantly better than the top players.
Rybka is the best desktop engine, but there is also Fritz, Shredder, Junior, Hiarcs, etc. I don't know whether work on Hydra has been kept up or not, or whether there are other serious hardware efforts like Hydra/Deep Blue. Hydra is also extremely strong; it has not lost to a human in OTB play (Mickey Adams managed to draw against it).
I think Rybka and Hydra's ratings would be estimated at about 2900-3000 ELO, but no one has any real idea since they don't actually play rated matches.
Fritz 3D played a match against Kasparov. That might be interesting. But it is more of an exhibition than the strongest chess bot around.
Fritz: 50 euros, Deep Fritz: 100 euros, same for Rybka/Deep Rybka.
