He's had the offense for years and done quite well. This year he's got a couple of very good running back and a good, swarming defense.

To win the National Championship you have to be good, you have to be lucky, and the chips have to fall right to even get you into the National Championship game.

Texas Tech is fortunate this year in all regards. They have a great team. The Big 12 South is, as an aggregate, unbelieveable and Texas Tech benefits from that exposure. They played great against Texas and won on a well executed fluke play with a second to go. The Big 10 and Pac 10 are having down years and the best team in each of those conferences lost a game they shouldn't have lost. The SEC is having a bit of a mediocre year and also has a conference championship game so only one SEC team will remain in the hunt. So, a bit of a perfect storm has at least put them into a position where they control their own destiny and don't have to worry about what everyone else is doing. Too often with the BCS that is not the case.
