I was trying to stay with the US convention of ~10% payouts, which meant paying 6-7 places (and with 9th LC I ended up with 8). But in Europe it is my observation from viewing many tournament results that they at least list more place finishers (and I presume that all listed finishers are paid).

So the 9-for-8 anomaly in the LC I proposed is tossed out the window if 3rd+4th in Consolation (and a total of 9 players or 14% of the field) are paid. Something like:

Main(60%) 1st-28%, 2nd-16%, 3rd&4th-8% each.

Cons(32%) 1st-16%, 2nd-8%, 3rd&4th-4% each.

LC(8%) 1st-8%.

This is just a stawman payout. Obviously you could shuffle the numbers around if, for exmaple, you wish to pay more for 1st Main, more for the Consolation in general, higher 2nd place (relative to 1st place), or even pay a 2nd-LC (which is also a practice I've seen in Europe, I think).
