What happened to all the hype?

I didn't even realize the Ty was over and just flipped on ESPN poker show last night thinking I was going to be seeing last summer's earlier rounds.

I thought part of the idea of delaying playing from 9 down to 1 was so that ESPN could make a spectacle out of it. I never even saw a single ad for this final table series of shows, and although I'm not glued to ESPN, I certainly watch some football, auto racing, and SportsCenter (besides poker).

I think they blew a big opportunity. Why not do this over Thanksgiving weekend (ala the "Skins Game" golf) and really build it up bigtime?? Hell, even on the second weekend of November (or was it actually played live yesterday??) they could have done a lot better advertising job, IMO.

While we're talking WSOP, I'm surprised someone hasn't flattened Full Hellmouth's nose. Calling his live opps idiots on national TV is so ridiculous and offensive, even Mike Mattisow (sp) told him such on one of the broadcasts. I suspect he counters that the contentiousness attracts a TV audience. I doubt that, but someone decking him (even worse than he decked himself driving that racecar into a pole in an empty parking lot) would be worth staying up late any day of the year for.
