Not a big fan of one round in a day

"So, if I wander up and see that Neil, Kit, and O'Hagan have signed up I might just wait a bit to decide to sign up. Or, if my best buddy and I decide to re-enter at the same time, we can stagger our rebuys to ensure we don't draw each up. So, there's room for a bit of chicanery and gamesmanship."
On the subject of chicanery and gamesmanship here is another one which is just as severe. In some masters events there is a 2pm and a 7pm start time. On the draw sheet it is indicated who has entered the side pool. Suppose that I am a late sign up and will play at the 7pm slot. I look at the draw sheet and see that most of those who entered the sidepool in the top half lost their match and that most who did not enter the side pool won. Makes the sidepool a good bet for me then since I have a very good chance of winning it by just making it to the finals. Are there instances of this where even two rounds have already been completed from those with the earlier start time?
