In Response To: LV Round #5 Play #2 (Matt Cohn-Geier)

One thing that sticks out at me here is that I don't want a blot on White's side, even now. So moving two off the 21-point but leaving the third behind looks good for a roll or two. Then it looks scary. I really don't want to be concerned with that loose checker at the wrong moment.

Staying on the 21-point appears to heighten the upcoming timing problems without apparent compensation. The near-barpoint (17-point) is good at holding, too.

Putting these two things together brings me to play 21/17(3). Now continuing to the midpoint with 17/13 gives good spares for timing. I considered 8/4 but starting that point doesn't look critical compared to getting that back spare into better position.

I land on the no-blot beginner play: 21/17(2), 21/13.
