Thanks, Mike, for the report on your tournament and the positive clock experience.

Mike asks: So what’s all the fuss about clock play?

Beats me. There may be a few guys who've been playing a lifetime and think it ruins the game somehow. And a lot more who've never tried clocks and so haven't accepted that yes, just a couple of practice matches with a clock are enough to get used to the procedures and to realize that clocks make only slow players play faster than normal.

The very first I used a clock, we both zipped through the match a little faster than normal -- feeling a little nonexistent clock pressure -- and ended (analog clock) with nearly half our time left. Try it ... you'll probably like it (or at least not mind it!).
