I just said I disagree, meaning I don't think that it requires many years of labor & study for someone to play at a 3.8.
Anyway, that's my opinion, no polemics invovled.
Also I mentioned handling with 8 cubes value as extreme example of knowledge which separate 1.8 players from 3.8 so there is no reason to catch my words literally.
What I mean is this: you don't have to be brilliant to play at a 1.8. You don't need to know everything there is to know about backgammon. You just have to avoid making errors, especially big ones. At least that's how I feel about it.
