You and are in agreement.

As a Kibitzer, when I see an impropriety in a match which I think I can help correct, I ask a couple questions:

1) How well do I know BOTH players?

2) Is there time (meaning, that the problem won't escalate or get worse) to go and tell a dirctor?

If I know both players (and I know they won't be offended by my speaking up) then I just speak up. If not but there is ample time I summon a director. If poor familiarity AND not enough time I have to make an on-the-spot judgment call.

BTW, I'm not talking about speaking up because of an illegal move! Examples of situations where I likely speak up are: incorrect score (either player or both), a checker missing, a cube not reset to center when a game begins, the wrong checker setup when the game begins.
