not the Clocking

OK, back from our TUESDAY night tournament. We had at least 3 matches that required clocks tonight. I announced the change regarding using a TC (Time Controls), we used 10 sec delay. And still used 2 minutes per match point; therefore our 5-pt matches got 10 minutes reserve time for each player.
In additon, for every 5 minutes beyond the posted clock time for a match to require a clock, I deducted 1-minute from each person's reserve time. E.g if the round was posted to require clocks at 7:10pm and a match was just to be started at 7:25pm, instead of 10 minutes reserve per player, I started them at 7-minutes per player.
None of the matches defaulted, they all completed and our final round started at 10pm --(optimistically) the latest time to still play a 7-pt final. So with our first foray with charted start times and the TD set of rules, we were very successful.
Although the finals match (7-pts) between Joe Russell and Justin Nunez (our about to be Player-of-the-Year, for the second year running) did run too long, such that we were late in leaving the (already closed) restaurant, but only by about 15 minutes).
I may put a clock in the finals with 10 sec TC and 2 minutes per mx-point, starting next week.
All of the clocked matches had at least one player saying "...I like these rules and settings much better than the old non-TD version)". I may also revise the charted "Start times" as we gain experience with the these particular settings.
