Frank and I have always been very appreciative of the support and compliments we've received from many in the BG community, in person/verbally, in e-mails, and in hardcopy newsletters and websites. This message by Joe is one more of too many to list.
I'm sure part of this is due to familiarity and friendship, but I also realize that as quantitative a group as BG players are (not to mention contentious & argumentative :), that wouldn't be nearly enough.
If 10% of the NFL understood at the 10% level the concepts we've built ZEUS around we'd be a lot further along in our quest to make a positive impact on how the game is played. BG players get it for many reasons, and those were the reasons that inspired Frank to ask me to join him in this project in the first place. Equity, game/match winning chances, optimal decision making without (or at least with best efforts to avoid) emotional input -- these are things which most BG players (at least the good ones) understand. Ironically we play for peanuts while the NFL plays for millions.
The show that aired this week (and I, like most of you, still haven't seen it) may prove to be a big step up the stairway we are trying to climb. Chris Collinsworth's comments alone are as strong (maybe stronger) as those of anyone who has ever been connected to the NFL has made, and he did it in front of a national audience.
I know a blanket 'thank you' without listing names can be hollow, but at the risk of that I'm aiming this at everyone in the worldwide BG community who has supported us in any way. We'll continue to keep you updated on our progress.
