With Go-Figure, ... the diagrams created will remain as long as this site does. With GABBI ... [if] that site [would] ever be taken down ... [and] someone later tried to reference positions in old posts there would then be no diagram.

A partial solution would be to include the GnuBG position and match ids as text along with the board. If the images were ever lost, someone could at least put the ids into GnuBG to see the original position.

And having position ids is useful if you want to use GnuBG to do your own rollout or play with variations on the position, etc.
