Actually in this case, they had already turned the ball over 3 times inside the 20. If you don't score here, you may not score the rest of the game. You are at home, and you are the "better" team (theoretically). Also, the defense has been playing very well. Kick it, and let your defense try and hold them to take it to overtime or get the ball back for a GW drive.
