Ugh. Hope I've got plenty of time on my clock because I need it here.
13/8, 10/8 at least leaves no blots or immediate cleanup, but this game isn't going to end a roll from now.
I've made plays like 10/8, 6/1 before and have lived to regret it since your flexibility is still crap and you've added a blot on the acepoint to have to worry about covering.
8/3*/1 at least takes away half of White's roll but there's that cleanup problem (which is taken care of if you get hit there ;) and still 14 immediate shots.
10/3* has a similar feel but is at least pure, however still leaving 18 shots and not much flexibility.
13/6 isn't that attractive and gives opp 10 shots.
What about slotting the 5-point, leaving 21 immediate shots when outboarded? It's definitely worth a look. Then you can play 8/6 or 13/11 with the deuce (latter an extra three shots and three potential double hit rolls).
Have I missed any reasonable (relatively speaking) candidates? 10/5, 6/4? (Don't laugh -- maybe that's it.) 20/13? No, I'd rather leave 36 shots.
Maybe 10/8, 6/1 is the best of a very bad lot. OK, that's my reluctant choice.
