I can't say I'd be any better at bringing myself to volunteer a double shot here. But this is not just a matter of the likelihood that we'll leave a shot later anyway. It is also a question of how survivable is getting hit right now. The gap on white's 3 point and the yet unmade bar point are big factors in surviving a hit. Fix either one of those defects and the "safe" play is now correct. There's an excellent chance that the bar will be made by the time we leave a shot later, and that will likely be fatal.
