Defending against a Backgame

As we see these plays are close, but there are several reasons why blotting now is slightly better.

1) It is quite hard to clear if you don't blot and you kill a checker with the safe play.

2) White isn't quite ready for you yet if he hits.

3) If White hits with a 4 he is subject to some counterattack shots from the bar.
