An interesting article. I just hope Stick doesn't ask for a cut of the royalties.
In my naive understanding, variance reduction is a (software) application of probabilistic computing.
As far as the limit of Moore's law, that would seem to eminate from quantum mechanics (see Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle on Wikipedia, or in your favorite physics text :). I wonder if the pragmatic "noise" problem isn't an excuse for not searching deeper to quiet it down. Until photon computers (as opposed to the current electron computers) are thoroughly tested, I'm not jumping on the "Moore's Law is dead" bandwagon.
