Time warning for digital clocks

I just tested the Excalibur's "Game Time II" clocks (the clocks that predominately in use in backgammon in the USA). The MAXIMUM time that the alarm warning can be set to is 59 SECONDS (e.g. when a player has a Reserve Time remaining of 59 seconds, the beep goes off). The BEEP is very quiet and I do not see a means of making it louder (or lasting longer, it is one very short beep).
I suspect that in a backgammon tournament room, that it will NOT be heard at all by players nearby and possibly NOT even be heard by the two players who are using that clock. BUT I do feel that the alarm should be set ON to accommodate both the new clock-players as well as those of us with experience --in order to attempt to alert the player whose time is now less than one minute. At my events, my clocks will be set to 59 seconds (as of this experiment).
