This is essentially a very simple software app. Have a timer pop and decrement a counter. Seems to me it would not be difficult at all for an iPhone application developer to write an unfair version that made the amount of time between updating the screen to decrement the "seconds" to be different for the two sides. Much easier to cheat than say with a special-purpose clock which most likely has its "smarts" hard-wired in an embedded device on a specialized chip.

Now I'm not the paranoid type. I'm just saying.
