Amusing clock reactions from first-time clock users

Nice story and I think we are going to see more of this.
Some players know (or at least suspect) that the biggest fear of backgammon players (and directors) is that backgammon, for whatever reason, will dry up and then those of us who really enjoy the game will lose something we value.
So, if you don't want something to happen (e.g. clocks), then threaten to inflict even greater pain on those who may inflict some on you.
But there is a fallacy in this ploy. Those who make the threat are really hurting themselves even worse if their threat is carried out. Because those players really enjoy the game too! The fact is (and maybe others here, like Stick, have said this) -- if people are so on the fence about participating that having to learn to play on a clock puts them over the edge, then what other (minor) inconvenience will push them over?
Time to call the bluff.
