Of course it's possible to hold the 5-prime another roll but that leaves such a stacked mess [even if you play 7/5, 2/1(2), which I'm not sure is better than 7/4, 2/1].

7/6(2), 7/5 feels about right. It brings in three checkers (max possible) and positions them nicely for both attacking and bearing off.
