Is it optimal to have 15 of the 19 events on the eastern half of the country?

LA twice, Vegas twice, Denver are definitely west. Population wise I don't think Minn or Chicago (twice) or Peoria are either and it is debateable if that should be more relevant than geographical.

I agree there is some imbalance though. No more Northwest tourney. Texas and Phoenix also do not have any.
