PoH does some good things: leaves the fewest immediate shots; gets one of the stacked checkers on the 2-point into play (not the greatest spot, though), pushes opp's annoying back checker forward, gives opp 25% chances to fail to move. That's a lot of good things.
Other plays I considered were 14/6 [starts clearing a potential problem point and keeps the outfield landing pods]; 4(2) [nice point to have], and 8/2, 8/6 [possibly easiest blot to clean up -- admittedly I'm stretching]. Of these I like 14/6 best. But that's 16 shots vs. 7 after PoH.
Conclusion: 1*(2).

Well, that worked nicely. Now I'll get off the 14-point with 14/7, leaving a blot under cover of barredness. Nice to get to remake the 7-point. The alternate 4(2) is good when opp fans but not good when s/he enters on Blue's 5-point. Giving up the 10-point is clean but shortsighted, IMO. Blue wants to race, so that's what I do.
Conclusion: 14/7.

Centered cube? White will be hard-pressed to take. Seems like the question is whether it's better to leave any spares on the 8-point. If opp rolls 6-6 I'm glad I brought those checkers in. 5-5 and probably 4-4 for give him a take (and maybe even 3-3) but even there I don't think a stripped 8-point is so bad, and Blue's 6-6 will leave a blot... if you bring one in from the 8-point, anyway. Since I'm more concerned about White racing me than hitting me, I'll make the best racing play.
13/10(2), 8/5(2).
