In Response To: Most frequently broken US rule? (garyo)

I know that Phil Simborg has been advocating the same kind of robust set of rules for Backgammon for years.

I was a top level racquetball player back in the 90s and a nationally certified referee. Racquetball had robust rules like this and I appreciated it as a referee as you always knew what the call was. I always felt that Backgammon should have rules like those.

I found out years later that it was Phil Simborg who wrote the rules of racquetball (and handball).

Perhaps I'll talk to Phil in Chicago this weekend. Maybe its time to apply that other baseball idea: "Build it and they will come". Maybe if there were a draft set of proposed rules on the table it would be easier to enlist buy-in from directors and feedback on tightening it up.
