I dunno--I think I play mostly OK at the beginning of the match, any way. Then I start to make questionable plays, as I did against you in Madison and against Steve in Lisle. I tend to want to speed up the match as it draws closer to the end. Hence I make precipitate plays or cube decisions. I don't really worry about the spectators, though--it's not like Falafel is over there (and nobody is watching me for instruction anyway). Many of the folks that criticize have rarely or never been in the hot seat. And I don't think about the luck or prior games--all I can really do is focus on the position at hand. I never even remember enough to complain about bad beats.

I wondered if it was a problem more generalizable than my own. But my own issue looks like I might cure it with more play and study.
