Now, of course, the imbecile takes the cube -- at -1.475 for him -- one of the great whoppers of all time -- in fact, I think he let the whole city have lunch on him.

I, naturally, don't roll the doublet and he rolls 4-4. To add insult to injury he didn't have the good sense to redouble me before he rolled it.

On to Crawford. Here, I have two checkers on the deuce while he has a widespread distribution of six checkers. Naturally, he rolls boxes, I roll 1-x, he rolls a win.

He's brilliant without any understanding of just how bad he is.

Certainly, it happens. And, in the long run, the better player will always prevail. But, wow, do we see a lot of examples of the short run.
