bar/18; when we hit him (don't say if, because if it's if the match is over anyway) we will want not only our 6 point, but control of all the boards. This play works toward control without hurting our chances of getting the 6 point by the time we need it.

If he misses, we don't have to worry about failing to get that useless spare into play, because it's already there. There are even a few oddball sequences where we get a forward game started right away (per esempio, 5-2, 5-1, 6-1, or 6-2 followed by our hitting with the outside checker).

If we're hit, at least we won't be busting our game with a big number on the next roll.
