If we stay back we still can handle any roll next turn. Stick isn't going to hit loose, so it's safe and should remain safe. (Our timing is more likely going to force us to leave.) We don't gain a lot this turn by staying (his 4-3 and 5-2 rolls become awkward, although playable without blotting).

Although there isn't much upside to staying, there isn't much downside, either. I stay, at least for one turn. There are still two choices for that but I pick the one that 'looks' better, expecting them to be very close.
