But doesn't straight Swiss lend itself to possible dishonesty?

It's easy to imagine examples where contestants would have wildly uneven incentives for particular matches--particularly in the later rounds-- in a straight Swiss. Obviously such situations can lend themselves to dishonest machinations. Equally obviously, we don't want to foster or encourage dishonest machinations.

In the aftermath of last year's event I had the impression that you had some good ideas about how to address that issue. I'm sure that your ideas--and other good ideas emerging from this forum--would be received well by Tom and the rest of the Madison staff.
