One thing I do when playing bots is not to crank them up all the way to perfection. Play Snowie 3-ply and you know that almost every cube it gives you is a take because it is cubing so efficiently. Consequently, you may develop some bad habits in cubing/taking/dropping based on what Snowie typically does. I play against Snowie with it set on 1-ply which, while it is still playing extremely competently, gives a much more 'human' opponent.
