1) When your opponent requests a hedge, it wouldn't be the end of the world to accept the hedge, even though you don't want to, just to be nice.

Quite true... in this last case, when we sat down, my opp asked me if I wanted to hedge... I said I wanted to go for it... no hedge... he was cool with it... didn't try to "convince" me.

A few years ago, I was in the finals of a jackpot and I wanted to not just hedge... I wanted to chop it so I could leave. In that case my opp (Rich Lloyd) was very polite in saying that he'd come a long way and really wanted to play... so we went from a chop to no hedge at all.
