Hedging

I never hedge. One of the reasons I never hedge is so I can tell my opponent I never hedge and that my refusal has nothing to do with them. That hopefully avoids hurt feelings from someone who might otherwise think my refusal is because they are weak. I have no desire to imply that my opponent is weak. (Let him prove it himself.) It wouldn't be the end of the world if I hedged sometimes. But, it would be the end of my story. And, anyone who has heard me say that I never hedged would know that I was lying to them. So, I will never hedge.
If the stronger player risks looking like a jerk by asking for the odds they want, that certainly argues for them to simply say no. But, I'm not sure I understand why they would look like a jerk. Does a weak player look like a jerk for suggesting an even hedge? What's the difference?
Incidentally, I refused when I was much weaker than I am today. That includes a bunch of $1,000+ differences. I'm sure I have lost money over the years by not hedging. I don't care. I'm comfortable with my choice.
