I'll Kick it Off -- Recording Controversy in Atlanta

Neither did the flyer say anything about a player not being able to record their matches.
Why should my opponent's 50% interest in our match trump my 50% interest in our match? Particularly, if I'm recording for my own personal use?
I've never distributed a match file to a third party w/o the approval of the participants. I've always provided a match file to my opponent if they so desire. If I post for discussion a specific position from a recorded match I do not include the opponent name if I think it will be in any way embarrassing to that player.
I've invested in the equipment necessary to record. I carry the equipment to every tournament I attend. I've purchased Snowie to analyze matches, which also allows me to export Snowie files to opponents, or to export text files capable of being utilized by GNU. I spend my own time (probably averages 1.2 hours entry time/1.0 hours playing time) to enter the matches into Snowie. For all my substantial investment and time, I provide my opponent the match file for absolutely nothing !! And most are grateful for the opportunity to have a tournament match recorded.
And yet the opponent's interests trumps mine? Amazing.
And the same goes for the many recorders -- and the number is increasing all the time: Malcolm Davis, Alan Grunwald, Gary Bauer, Julius High, Chris Knapp, Jason Lee, Ed O'Laughlin, Jeb Horton (not so much anymore), Perry Gartner, Gregg Cattanach (used to do so), Vadim, myself and others. Stick, MCG, Justin Nunez, Rob Maier and others often hand record matches for others. I've video-recorded matches for others at their request or by my suggestion -- this includes Steve Sax, Ray Fogerlund, Neil Kazaross, Stick Rice, Richard Munitz and others. Some of the other recorders have, on occasion I believe, used their equipment to videorecord matches for others. Steve Sax, Justin Nunez, Phil Simborg, Ed O'Laughlin like to play tournament matches on their computers (when opponents are willing) for review and analysis.
Almost everyone that plays on-line, depending on the server, have their matches available for analysis, whether they wish to allow it or not.
I think recording in every form only serves to benefit the game. I think the recorders should be commended, not faulted.
