ABT rules

Within the last year, Malcolm and others pushed hard to get this in the ABT rules. I personally was in favor of this, although I think he has a right to record with or without explicit ABT rules. He was not able to pursuade the powers that be that this was a good idea. I hope the incident in Atlanta demonstrates that the lack of rules, or at least clear direction, was responsible for a lot of problems and hard feelings. If the directors had simply ruled that Malcolm must be allowed to record, the incident would have far less trying. If the directors had announced prior to the tournament that they would not supported recording rights, Malcolm would have solved the problem by staying home. Some directors including my wife have gotten out in front of the problem by stating their support for recording rights before the tournament. There will be no problems, or at least the problems will be smaller, if the directors state their position prior to the tournament. The magnitude of the problem in Atlanta was directly related to the uncertainty surrounding the ruling.
