Well Greg, there are going to be complaints anyway. and only if you don't fill up the brackets with initial entry fees and rebuys. Fuckem and feed em fish if they don't like it...

you have to run a tournamnet and the more entry fees the better and the less money you LOSE on buying trophies. I think that only an idiot would complain about second round byes. Hell, some people hate first round byes, and if you give those then you lose out on any rebuys which tends to reduce the total of byes... unless you spill into the next perfect bracket... It is easy to avoid that by not allowing byes to trickle past 16, or 32, however.

Honestly some people should give up backgammon, if they want to complain about byes or the dice. Their reasoning seems to be:

1. Too many byes! (and I never get one)

2. My opponents always roll perfectly, (and I always roll bad).

If either of these two statstics is correct, then you should never play at all. You cannot win, it is pre-ordained.

Quit whining already, you just got one of the byes!
