Candidates?
6/1*, 13/11. Puts second checker on bar, leaving 11 return shots.
18/13, 18/16. Gets into a race (likely a one-sided holding game), leaving 17 return shots.
13/8, 13/11. More builders for homeboard and/or outside prime, leaving 11 return shots.
13/6. No gain in strength (even some loss in flexibility) but no return shots.
It's not clear to me that Blue wants to avoid contact. Boards are equal and he owns a good blocking point (7-point). White is on the bar -- already a contact advantage for Blue. So making the racing play which leads to loss of (much of the) race edge almost half the time doesn't look right. I veto 18/13, 18/16.
Between the remaining candidates, I'm liking the hit. Two on the bar is even better and a third White blot is vulnerable. Blue has the pseudo anchor when things go badly and checkers in the zone when they go well.
6/1*, 13/11.
