Stick wrote, "If I have left someone off this list you think should be included by all means, bring them up and state your (their) case."

Stick included Bob Wachtel in the "noticeables" list, but excluded him from the list of the top sixteen Americans.

Bob Wachtel has played in very few ABT tournaments, so Stick may not know him, but Bob is active in European tournaments. He won the Super Jackpot in 2008 in Monte Carlo. In 2004, he was runner-up in the main event, and as I recall, he played the final match with a Snowie error rate of something like 2.7.

I believe Bob is one of only five Americans (at most) who plays with an average Snowie error rate under 3.0. He is also a damned good tennis player, especially considering that he is in his 60s. Bob can spot Svobo twelve inches of height and still win.

Of the sixteen people that Stick mentioned, Bob Wachtel plays better than at least twelve of them. I would love to have action on Wachtel in a money game or in a match against twelve of the people on Stick's list.

Was hanging out with Jake and Mochy one day in Tokyo and saw a Japanese guy who was a dead ringer for Wachtel. I pointed him out to Jake and Mochy and casually said, "There's Bob Wachtel." We all had a good laugh. Bob has a home in LA.
