Agreed. It seems like the ABT tournaments are the yard stick by which some people measure BG greatness. Even if some of these tourneys can only gather 39 players.

As it is, the vast majority of the American players don't have a clue as to just how good some of the European and Japanese players are. And just how many great players there are outside the US.

By the same token, the vast majority of the European players don't know who are the best players in the US.

I guess it's pretty safe to say that Americans will vote for Americans and European players will vote for European players. Since most voters are Americans, the list is dominated by American players.

A genuine world BG tour that could gather the best players from both sides of the pond, from Japan and other places where great players reside, would easily beat the Giants list as a way to determine who the best players are. But I guess this topic requires a new thread in itself.
