I think you could easily remove me, Weaver and Koca from this list and insert:
Dana Nazarian, Frank Talbot, and Steve Brown
I've only played Talbot once and it was the finals of a last chance event I believe so I can't say much about his game. That and I've seen him playing late night chouettes black holing wine. Dana is definitely a good player but again, I haven't seen enough of him to quantify his level of goodness. Steve Brown is surely a notable but in my opinion wouldn't qualify for the 'best of' list.
Hugh Sconyers is better than anyone gives him credit for, he could even be #1
I don't agree with this from what I've seen of late in the least. He told me that he doesn't study/play anymore at all and it shows.
Rod Covlin ...
I think if Rod had more free time to study the game he could be up there, and him getting out tournaments is a big plus. Backgammon does incorporate a fair amount of experience and I've learned a lot from coming to tournaments when out of book positions come up. I also enjoy looking at other people's positions and watching other people's matches. The more tourneys Rod attends (all of them this year) the more he should improve whether he wants to or not from being exposed to so much.
