I contend there are many more -- certainly others more deserving of note than some on his lists, the second list, particularly.

As I didn't make clear enough, I don't really care about the second list. I'm trying to hone in on the players who should be included on the first list. I'm not trying to slight anyone by leaving them off the notables list, you know I'd do that publicly and get far more enjoyment out of it if I was.

I think it unseemly and unfortunate that such lists are publicly posted and discussed in such a forum. Certainly it leaves a distaste associated with visions of ballot stuffing, vote rigging, collusion, promotion, etc. I think it will further harm the valid perception around the world that the list is too influenced by the Americans.

As has been pointed out, Americans do not dominate the voting. Also, as one might have guessed, I plan on later creating the same type of list for players from other parts of the world. I'm not trying to promote anything other than the list itself, knowing that it's very imperfect, a popularity contest, yada yada yada...still doesn't mean we can't create a more accurate list than the ones I've seen in the past.

Perhaps if a voter feels he/she is not knowledgeable enough to vote they should abstain from voting rather than accept the recommendations of others who may well have their own individual opinions, biases, agenda, or conflicts of interests.

If this was the case nobody would cast a vote. I get around the bg scene and I still feel uninformed about how some of the stronger players play. All I'm asking is what others who may have been more exposed to them think about their play? It seems Bob Wachtel may have slipped through my personal cracks because other than knowing his name, I don't know his game. I'm glad the people who pointed out what a good player he is did. If several players point to one person being this solid of a player it's unlikely they're doing it out of a conflict of interest or their own personal agenda. Much more likely is the guy plays damn sweet.
