Some pairings were agreed upon by the participants as in my case when I suggested the idea to Beth Raby (sp), who said she wanted to play in it. I assume that a few of the other teams were assembled in this fashion... But Bill Davis was at the front of the room drumming up interest and finally decided to make a list of Amateurs who would like to play with a "pro" and then pros were assigned amateurs, I think. Anyway Ed O got Christina Vig, and they beat Beth and I in the semi finals after a heartstopping DMP game. We had beaten Carter and his partner after rallying from 6*-3/7 and winning the last two games when I performed my role as the "closer" to perfection. I gammoned them in the Crawford game, and then I won the DMP game after spotting them an opening 31 and doubling immediately thereafter.
