If I understand most of the arguments now, they revolve around rating player skill (through some mechanism like ELO or Error Rates) but not necessarily for the ABT - but to decide the Giants list.

Then I think you misunderstand, and for sure one of us does.

We don't need to throw out an idea because someone else has a different idea, plan, or agenda. Why do so many people seem to think this is the case?

ABT can live just as it is.

Giants list can live just as it is.

US ratings can live (if they are reborn...).

Attempts to bring more (including young players) into the game can occur in harmony with all of the above.
