crowded table in a noisy restaurant?

In Response To: Saturday Night Dinner in Michigan (Stick)

I'm certainly not against the dinner idea, but with so many people (your list is growing fast) it might make sense to meet in a place where we all can sit together and concentrate on one thing. (This is in ADDITION to the dinner, not in place of it.) My experience with dinner meetings at restaurants (and I've attended quite a few -- physicists think dinnertime is work time) is that you can talk to MAYBE 4-5 people closest to you, and even then it's quite noisy with so many local conversations fighting each other for the available sound spectrum.

I believe the "chouette room" (used to be "smoking room" but the hotel is now 100% smoke free) next to the main playing room is available most of the time.

Unfortunately there aren't many schedulable open timeslots (i.e. when people aren't playing in an official event, eating, or sleeping). But one that is nominally available is the hour before the Calcultta: 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Friday. That is still registration time but everyone (except Reklaitis :) will have done the sensical thing and registered the day before.

Anyone feel this would be a reasonable thing to do? We can open it to everyone interested (which it pretty much already is, anyway). We'll need a moderator, of course. (Who moderated the clock forum in LV last fall? MFIC?)
