Agreed...it is one thing if you have a choice of where to leave a blot and might have to think about or at least look at it, but another thing if it's just a forced 4 off play.

Although the rules are worded such that it should be Black's option as to whether the illegal roll is rerolled, I wouldn't rule that way, and would be unhappy if it was ruled that way. On the other hand I rarely roll prematurely and certainly wouldn't at DMP in the finals of a huge tournament where I was playing for a ton of money, unless I was in time pressure.
