Tom: You're both saying the same think, aren't you? The fact that somebody purchased you in the Calcutta should not be a factor in your decision making. Here's another way to say it.
You have a responsibility:
1. To your opponent: To be courtious and respectful even in the heat of battle.
2. To the tournament: To be on time, follow the rules, and generally help the tournament run smoothly.
3. To the game of backgammon: To act in a professional manner, take the game seriously, and be gracious in victory and defeat.
You don't have a special responsibility to your Calcutta owner.
