Bad Behavior in Michigan

I think the dynamic of a chouette is different from that of a tournament. I don't often play for money with people I don't know, or for high stakes at all, but I do know that in our local money game there is a lot of bitching and jocular wordplay that would be considered highly offensive or even "fighting words" in another context, and is simply amusing in our context.
I don't think most folks care too much about losing a bit in a chouette. OTOH, losing in the QF of a major tournament, which implies getting no money instead of possibly a lot, no recognition instead of possibly a great deal, and no ABT points instead of some, is enough of an ego wallop to make a few people become unglued and really unpleasant, especially if they have rarely been in position to cash and they view their opponent as an inferior player.
