Bad Behavior in Michigan

I was lucky to defeat Michael Ginat in the finals of the Colorado State Championships a few years ago. That tourney was not yet an ABT event, and I was a beginner. Near the end of the match I put my own checker on the bar instead of his after I hit him during the endgame. He had a closed board, so holding me to the play would have created a big swing. As the spectators gasped, Michael just put my checker back and told everyone that I was nervous. He didn't want to win on his opponent's clumsy mechanical error. I always respected that, and I've always done the same.
As for Greg, I am sorry that Bill outed him (me) on this board. He was indeed the guy that left me wanting to quit backgammon after Lisle. I don't know Greg very well, but I have had a few meals with him, and he has been a very nice and generous friend to my dad, and I was mystified and dismayed by his behavior during the match, and I had wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
