The use of "should have been" is possibly misleading here. It is correct in that it should have been planned to be 9 pointers from the get go. But one might think that it was planned to be 9 points, and then someone messed up and announced 7 points. That is not what happened. It was planned to be 7 points. A name player went to TD and complained and a few minutes later it was changed to 9 pointers (after matches could have potentially gone on for more than 15 minutes). Others may post more.

So there were two mistakes made in my view. The first was the decision to make the 1rst consolation be 7 pointers. The second was to change it to 9 after matches had started.
