I think Rich's figures are pretty accurate here, except that they don't take into account the increased BG value ATS. I think you need more like 11.2% extra bgs to compensate for 4.5% game losses and a one-for-one trade of gammons for bgs should also be marginally more in your favour. I think this makes it very close. I'll then factor in the difficult play for your opponent after a hit. Conclusion: play for the BG.
